Albert E. and Shirley M. Belon Scholarship

Last awarded to physics student in 2017-2018. Assigned to CTC Nursing for 2019-2020.

To provide scholarships for University of Alaska Fairbanks students with a graduate focus of study on physics or geophysics, or with an undergraduate focus of study in nursing. This scholarship is restricted to residents of the United States because Shirley wished to honor her late husband who immigrated to the United States in 1949 and later became a citizen himself, and who believed strongly that his decision to become a permanent resident of the US made him a true US citizen. Recipient must be studying either physics or geophysics at the graduate level, or Nursing at the undergraduate level. Preference given to those that hold permanent, legal residence in the United states. Preference given to those that can demonstrate financial independence. Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Recipient must be a full time student.
