Beck Writing Scholarship

The Beck Writing Scholarship assists students at the Ketchikan Campus in studies pertaining to written language. Applicant must be full-time program student taking at least one class through the UAS Ketchikan campus during the semester the award is given. Also, the applicant must have exhibited exceptional skill and interest in writing, and be involved with studies which have particular emphasis on written language and communication.

Requirements: a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0; be enrolled full-time. Preference will be given to students majoring in Journalism or English.

  2. Candidates must submit a variety of polished writing (academic and creative) with a total of 10-12 pages preferred. Candidates should consider submitting written work that includes wider representation than just English (for example, history, psychology, geology).
  3. Do you plan to take classes through the Ketchikan campus?
