Eleanor Andrews AHAINA Assistance
Eleanor Andrews is President and CEO of the Andrews Group, a management services firm she began in 1986. Currently, Ms. Andrews is also a partner in Eyak Technology and Global Technology Group. Ms. Andrews has been involved in the formation of the first National Urban League affiliate in Alaska. Previously, she served as employee representative for the Alaska Public Employee Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers before becoming director of human resources for the Municipality of Anchorage. She has also served as Governor Sheffield’s commissioner of administration during the 1980s.
In 1994 Ms. Andrews received the YWCA Women of Achievement Award. She also volunteered for Anchorage through the Alaska Youth Ready-to-Work program and the Anchorage Chamber ATHENA women’s business mentoring program, POWERLINK. She was named the 1998 Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. She also received the ATHENA Award in 1995, and in 2014 was inducted into the Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame. In 2009 the University of Alaska Anchorage conferred upon Ms. Andrews the title of Honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) in recognition of her distinguished career as a community leader and a dedicated community-service volunteer.
Ms. Andrews has served several organizations including Urban Works, the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, Commonwealth North, Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center, University of Alaska Small Business Development Center, Anchorage Neighborhood Housing Services, Anchorage Mutual Housing Association and Providence Health Systems Foundation, University of Alaska Anchorage Board of Advisors and Premera Blue Cross. She is also an active Rotarian, and values being known as a civic entrepreneur.
