Edward J. Kuhn was born December 28, 1923. Mr. Kuhn graduated from Central Michigan University and taught for 37 ½ years in the Hazel Park School District where he has endowed several scholarships for graduating seniors. For more than 30 years, Mr. Kuhn chaperoned young men, women and adults on a three-week trip to Alaska, often assisting them with the expenses of the trip.
Following his retirement in 1989, Mr. Kuhn enjoyed traveling the world, often with AAA Michigan. He was a member of the 60+ exercise group at Oakland University and a life member of the Waterford Senior Center. Even toward the end of his life, he enjoyed participating in many social events and activities. Ed died at age 89 on June 20, 2013. This scholarship is a standing tribute to his love of Alaska and teaching, both passions he tried to share with those he knew.
